It’s been a crazy election cycle, so it’s only appropriate that the final night of this madness is celebrated (or mourned, if you’ve been enjoying the CNN push notifications of this past year as much as I have) in an extra special way. Here are a handful of ways to go out of the 2016 election cycle with a bang:
Attend one of these free Election Night parties:
- Election Night Party at The Westin: Hang with Washington State Democrats (including Patty Murray and Jay Inslee) at this free party at the Westin. Free to attend (RSVP required–you can register on this link) and cash bars are available. I tried really hard to find the equivalent to this for the Republican Party, the closest I found was the AMC viewing (below, under Other Viewing Parties).
- Election Day Party at Nectar Lounge, which offers no cover, games, drink specials, and prizes. Doors open at 6 and registration (linked) is required.
- Election Night Viewing Party at Tini Bigs Lounge. This one doesn’t have a web link but there is a Facebook page. They’ll have election coverage on three TVs and special cocktails which represent each of the major parties. Next door at Hula Hula, coverage will also be shown on their four TVs. Karaoke also takes place that night beginning at 9 PM.
Other Viewing Parties:
- AMC Theaters Presidential Election Night Parties. These viewings are free with Stubs membership, and members can bring up to two guests. They begin at 4:00 PM (doors open at 3:30). Each major city has two viewing parties– one “blue,” theater (for Seattle, Pacific Place) and one, “red,” (Southcenter) which they decided based on voter registration data (which I think is super cool).
Go to one of these fun bars and ignore the fate of our nation:
- Shorty’s is a Belltown bar which will distract you with pinball and nachos.
- Canon has been repeatedly in the running for Best Cocktail Bar in America. Their ingredient list includes, “magic,” some drinks are served in skull glasses, and they even occasionally have steam coming out of them.
- Waterwheel Lounge, located in Ballard, has karaoke beginning at 9 PM on election night.
- The Pine Box used to be a funeral home (the one which hosted Bruce Lee’s funeral, in fact) but NOW it’s ranked as one of Thrillist’s best beer bars in America. They have great beer and killer pizza…get it? #notsorry
- Rhein Haus is located in the Central District and has a ton of bocce ball courts.
- And, duh, go bowl and play pool at Garage. Their happy hour starts at 3 and ends at 7 so you can properly…prepare…for the results that lie ahead.
Finally, you can always stay at home and watch Colbert on Showtime at 8 PM PST. In the words of Colbert himself, “It’ll be all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from Showtime.” The special is only one hour long, so you’ll have plenty of time to mourn the loss of this:
